7 Things God Wants You To Stop Doing
Tips to improve your mental health
You might think you know what we're going to say but some of these might surprise you! No, it's not your typical don't lie, cheat or steal. These are everyday, gentle reminders of things that can lessen your anxiety - things God would rather you put on Him. He's got this, remember?
1. Worrying about what you can't control
If you can't control something, you simply can't control it! Worrying about something that you can't do anything about will only bring you more anxiety and make things worse. If anyone can control it, God can. Have faith in Him and his journey for you.
2. Stressing about what others think about you
Kind of like #1, this is another one that you really don't have a ton of control over. You can potentially influence what people think a little but ultimately, it's their mind and they'll think as they please. God is really the only one who's opinion you should worry about anyway!
3. Overthinking choices that God put in front of you
So, you're in a position where God has given you two (or more) options. What do you do? You pray to God for a little guidance if you need it, make a choice based on your life and your Christian beliefs, and let that choice play out as it will. Once you've made your decision there's no going back so there's no sense in dwelling over what might have been. God will help you through all things, trust in his guidance.
4. Being anxious about the future that God has planned
Ultimately, God wants you to join him at the end of your journey, so you can be safe in knowing he isn't going to lead you astray. There may be times where the path He's given you seem difficult, and that may be so, but he's led you that way for a reason. There's a lesson in the end and you'll be a better person for it. As stated above - trust in His guidance.
5. Wasting your time on things that only bring worldly rewards
When the time comes, you won't be able to take any of your worldly belongings with you, not even your body! While it is good to strive to be and do you best, do so with your faith in mind. The rewards you seek out should be those that will bring you closer to God and to being a great Christian.
6. Procrastinating when it comes to reading your Bible
This should be one thing that you do daily. It's a great way to remember where you're headed and when you know you're on the right track, you'll have less uncertainty and far less worry in your life. Reading your Bible even for just 15 minutes a day can help you stay positive and grounded.
7. Spending more time wishing than you do praying
Wishes aren't the same as prayers. Wishes are something you save for a genie! Wishes are asking someone else to solve a problem for you. When someone else solves a problem for you, you never learn to solve it yourself. Through prayer, God give you peace of mind through showing you how you can help yourself, this time AND in the future.
